Arrival in Ireland

After a sleepless flight to the Emerald Isle, my wife and I, heavy-eyed and fatigued, touched down around 11am at Dublin Airport where our friend Michael greeted us with a warm smile. Despite our weariness, the drive to his home in Mullingar was a mesmerizing journey through Ireland’s lush landscapes, with rolling hills and the quaint charm of the town unfolding before our eyes. As soon as we reached his wonderful home, the comfort of the bed beckoned, but we knew better. We needed to stay up at late as possible to help with the jet lag. We met up with Mike’s girlfriend, Mary, and went to dinner at the Horseshoe Bar at the Park Hotel in Mullingar. More to follow.

Got back to Michael’s, and Lisa went to game a bit then sleep. Michael and I headed to downtown Mullingar to hit some pubs. You know, for research. First we went to Clarke’s Bar for one. Then we hit the Ulysses Bar in the Grevel Arms hotel. Wonderful place. We then closed the night out at Canton Casey’s pub, which was a great time! Can’t wait to get back there. We got a taxi home, and I fell asleep around 11:30pm, which was my goal to solve the jetlag issue.
